Outlines of Elementary Botany

چکیده
As a general rule, we are opposed to Scientific Manuals, for the use of students, which treat in an elementary way of the scicnces whose principles and bearings it is the student's duty to master during his university career. We are opposed to them because, from their elementary nature, they contribute to convey to his mind a false impression of the limits of the science and of its relations to others. Many of these manuals confine themselves

Biogenic synthesis of Copper nanoparticles using aquatic pteridophyte Marsilea quadrifolia Linn. rhizome and its antibacterial activity
The spread of contagious diseases and the increase in the drug resistance amongst pathogens has enforced the researchers to synthesize biologically active nanoparticles. Development of eco-friendly practice for the synthesis of nanoparticles is growing bit by bit in the field of nano-biotechnology. The present investigation outlines the development of a method to biosynthesize copper nanopartic...
متن کاملAchieving Analytical and Cellular Control in Confined Spaces and Continuous Flow
Sabeth Verpoorte is professor at the University of Groningen. In this contribution she describes the development of a microfluidic incubation system for drug metabolism studies using a"top-down"precision-cut tissue slice model. She also outlines a fundamental particle separation concept, which relies on the generation of controlled bi-directional flow in microchannels having variable cross-sect...

ALTHOUGH THE FERNS of southeastern Polynesia have been described in several papers, no separate list has previously been provided for Pitcairn Island. The present paper outlines the details of a collection made there by Mr. W . H. Lintott of the Botany Department of the University of Canterbury, and includ es mention of other collections where these were available. When the changes which have o...
متن کاملMetabolomic approaches toward understanding nitrogen metabolism in plants.
Plants can assimilate inorganic nitrogen (N) sources to organic N such as amino acids. N is the most important of the mineral nutrients required by plants and its metabolism is tightly coordinated with carbon (C) metabolism in the fundamental processes that permit plant growth. Increased understanding of N regulation may provide important insights for plant growth and improvement of quality of ...
